Huawei SUN2000-12K-MAP0
The Huawei SUN2000‑12K‑MAP0 is a three-phase string inverter for demanding residential and smaller commercial PV applications. With a nominal power of 12kW and a maximum apparent power of 13.2kVA, it supports system designs with increased DC oversizing up to 22kWp. Two independently operating MPP trackers with a wide voltage range enable flexible string configurations even with complex roof geometries. The device topology is designed for high system efficiency, active safety, and future storage integration. With integrated protection and diagnostic functions, natural convection cooling, and IP66 protection class, the device is suitable for permanent outdoor use. In combination with Huawei LUNA storage systems and SmartGuard backup components, the inverter can be operated both grid-parallel and in backup power mode.
TechnologyThe power electronics design of the SUN2000‑12K‑MAP0 is based on a string-oriented topology with two MPP trackers and one DC input each. The permissible input voltage range of 160V to 1,000V allows long strings and reduces line losses. Per MPP tracker, a continuous input current of 16A and a short-circuit current of 22A are permitted, enabling operation of modern module technologies including bifacial modules. With a maximum efficiency of 98.6% and a European efficiency of 98.2%, the inverter is designed for yield-optimized systems. The three-phase feed-in fully supports asymmetrical load distribution up to 100%.
Electrical design- Two independent MPP trackers enable stable yield optimization in cases of partial shading and different orientations.
- High DC voltage resistance up to 1,100V supports long strings and reduces system complexity.
- Active feed-in control allows full three-phase asymmetry without additional devices.
ConnectivityMultiple communication interfaces are available for system integration. An RS485 interface is integrated as standard, complemented by WLAN connectivity for local commissioning and monitoring. Via optional Smart Dongles, the inverter can be integrated into higher-level monitoring structures via Ethernet or mobile communication (4G/3G/2G). Communication with the FusionSolar portal enables detailed system monitoring, error analysis, and remote maintenance. In addition, ripple control receiver signals are supported, facilitating integration into grid-side active power management concepts.
Interfaces & Monitoring- RS485 as a robust fieldbus interface for meters, energy management, and external control devices.
- WLAN and optional Ethernet connection enable flexible integration into existing networks.
- Integration into FusionSolar allows continuous monitoring and predictive maintenance.
WarrantyA standard manufacturer’s product warranty is provided for the SUN2000‑12K‑MAP0. The typical warranty coverage focuses on the central power electronics and safety-relevant components of the inverter. The fanless cooling with natural convection minimizes mechanically stressed components, which has a positive effect on long-term reliability. In addition, integrated protection mechanisms such as arc fault detection, insulation monitoring, and connector temperature measurement monitor safe operation and reduce failure-critical situations during ongoing system operation.
Warranty & Safety- Active safety functions such as AFCI and connector monitoring reduce fire and failure risks.
- Fanless design reduces wear and increases operational safety over long runtimes.
SustainabilityThe inverter is designed for high energy efficiency and long-term resource use. The high efficiency minimizes conversion losses and reduces the specific material use per kilowatt-hour generated. Natural cooling without active fans saves auxiliary energy and avoids additional maintenance effort. Support for battery storage enables a higher self-consumption rate and improves system efficiency over the entire lifecycle of the PV system.
Ecological aspects- High conversion efficiency reduces losses and increases overall energy yield.
- Fanless concept reduces energy demand for cooling and operation.
- Support for storage increases self-consumption and system efficiency.
QualityThe mechanical and electrical design meets the requirements for permanent outdoor use. With IP66 protection class, the inverter is protected against dust and powerful water jets. The permissible operating temperature range of –25°C to +60°C allows use in a wide variety of climate zones. A maximum installation altitude of 4,000m expands application possibilities even in alpine regions. The compact housing with a weight of around 21kg simplifies installation and handling on site.
Mechanical quality- IP66 protection class enables reliable outdoor use without additional protective enclosures.
- Wide temperature and altitude range expands the range of applications under diverse site conditions.
- Compact design simplifies installation and service access.
ExpandabilityThe SUN2000‑12K‑MAP0 is prepared for future system expansions. It supports the direct connection of high-voltage batteries from the Huawei LUNA2000 series S0 and S1 in a voltage range of 600V to 980V with a maximum battery current of 20A. In combination with the SmartGuard‑63A‑T0, three-phase backup power operation with switching times below 20ms can be realized. In addition, the inverter can be used in multi-device concepts to gradually expand system capacity.
