Description

The Huawei SUN2000-8K-MAP0 is a three-phase hybrid inverter for residential and small commercial PV systems designed for self-consumption optimization and storage integration. With a nominal AC power of 8 kW, two MPP trackers, and a maximum supported PV input power of 14.6 kWp, the device offers high flexibility in string design. The wide MPP voltage range of 160 to 1,000 V allows long strings even with different module orientations. Asymmetrical power output across the three phases enables load-oriented feeding. In combination with Huawei SmartGuard, EMMA, and LUNA high-voltage storage systems, the inverter can be integrated into backup and energy management concepts. Protection class IP66 and integrated safety functions make it ideal for permanent outdoor use.

  • TechnologyTechnologyAs a three-phase hybrid inverter, the SUN2000-8K-MAP0 operates transformerless and achieves a maximum efficiency of 98.6% and a European efficiency of 98.0%. Two independent MPP trackers with separate string inputs enable optimized energy yield in case of shading or module deviations. The maximum DC input voltage of 1,100 V and the recommended PV power of up to 14.6 kWp provide planning flexibility when using modern high-performance modules. Asymmetrical power output allows dynamic distribution of AC power across the individual phases, which is particularly relevant for uneven load profiles.

    Key technical features
    • Two MPP trackers for separate string fields and improved yields in case of partial shading or different roof orientations.
    • High efficiency through modern power electronics and low-loss DC/AC conversion.
    • Asymmetrical three-phase feed-in for load-oriented usage on site.
  • ConnectivityConnectivityFor monitoring and system integration, the inverter provides an integrated RS485 interface. Network communication is optionally available via Smart Dongles for WLAN, Fast Ethernet, or 4G mobile communications. Connection to the FusionSolar platform enables detailed monitoring, parameterization, and commissioning via app or web interface. The communication interfaces also allow integration of smart meters, optimizers, and energy management components. This makes the device suitable for networked systems with load management, storage control, and optional backup functionality.

    Communication options
    • RS485 as an integrated interface for system components and meter connection.
    • WLAN or Ethernet via Smart Dongle for local and cloud-based monitoring.
    • 4G mobile communications optional for locations without a fixed network connection.
  • WarrantyWarrantyThe Huawei SUN2000-8K-MAP0 is covered by the manufacturer's standard product warranty. This covers material and manufacturing defects of the inverter and forms the basis for long-term use in the PV system. An extension of the warranty is possible via manufacturer-defined programs and is used depending on the project, for example for longer operating periods or increased availability requirements. For planning, it is relevant that warranty conditions and handling are managed centrally via the manufacturer.
  • SustainabilitySustainabilityHuawei focuses on a compact design and reduced material usage for the SUN2000-8K-MAP0. The device weight of around 21 kg simplifies transport and installation and reduces logistical effort. Packaging is predominantly made from fiber-based materials to minimize the proportion of plastic. Additionally, there is a global take-back and recycling program for electronic components aimed at recovering raw materials. These aspects are particularly relevant in project contexts where sustainability criteria or ESG requirements must be considered.
  • QualityQualityThe IP66 protection class qualifies the inverter for permanent outdoor use and reliably protects against dust and powerful water jets. Integrated protection functions such as DC and AC surge protection (Type II), residual current detection, and AI-based arc fault detection increase operational safety. In addition, the device monitors connector temperatures on the DC and battery side to detect thermal risks at an early stage. These safety and quality features are crucial for stable long-term operation and reduced maintenance requirements.

    Safety-related aspects
    • IP66 enclosure for outdoor installation under demanding environmental conditions.
    • Comprehensive electrical protection functions including AFCI arc fault detection.
    • Temperature monitoring on DC and battery connections for damage prevention.
  • ExpandabilityExpandabilityThe SUN2000-8K-MAP0 is designed for modular expansion. It is compatible with Huawei LUNA high-voltage battery systems and can be integrated into true three-phase backup solutions via SmartGuard. In addition, smart PV optimizers can be used to implement module monitoring and shutdown functions. The combination with EMMA enables advanced energy management, for example for controlling consumers or supporting the grid. This expandability supports scalable system concepts without replacing the inverter.

    System integration
    • Connection of high-voltage storage systems for self-consumption and backup concepts.
    • Compatibility with SmartGuard and EMMA for grid and energy management functions.
    • Integration of module optimizers for monitoring and safety functions.
