Description
The SAX storage unit is shipped with the German grid code and default settings configured for the ADL400 smart meter. If this configuration works for you, no changes are necessary. If you wish to use different settings, you will need the SAX USB-RS485 adapter (5209000009). This adapter is a one-time purchase and can be reused for any installation.
The SAX Power Home 5.8 is a compact AC battery storage system with an integrated inverter function and is suitable for both new installations and retrofitting existing systems. With 5.2 kWh of usable capacity, 4.6 kW rated power, and 98.6% conversion efficiency, it supports efficient self‑consumption optimization. Modular expandability up to 17.3 kWh allows flexible system configurations. Thanks to the patented multilevel technology, the system provides alternating current directly from the battery, reducing installation effort and simplifying planning processes.
Warranty & SafetyThe system uses safe LiFePO cells and features an integrated protection concept with Protection Class 1 and IP30. The cells are monitored individually and can be quickly disconnected in the event of a fault, increasing operational safety. The battery warranty covers ten years with at least 80% remaining capacity, ensuring long‑term planning reliability. Passive cooling enables low‑maintenance operation without moving components and performs reliably in the typical temperature range between 5 °C and 35 °C.
Safety‑Relevant System Features- LiFePO cell chemistry with high thermal stability for predictable system reliability.
- Fast cell disconnection in case of malfunctions to minimize potential faults.
- IP30 design and passive cooling to reduce external risk factors.
ConnectivityModbus RTU as well as Modbus TCP/UDP provide versatile communication options for integration into control and monitoring environments. Connections via RS485 and RJ45 simplify integration into common energy management systems. The e‑paper display provides key information continuously and energy‑efficiently, supporting quick on‑site system diagnostics. This enables the storage system to be integrated into both small and complex control architectures.
Installation ConceptInstallation is carried out via a simple wall‑mounting concept with a compact device design of 530 × 530 × 250 mm and 53 kg weight. Since AC conversion already occurs inside the storage unit, a separate battery inverter is not required, reducing cabling and installation time. The combination of smart‑meter integration and clear device access simplifies efficient commissioning and speeds up project workflows.
SustainabilityThe use of cobalt‑free LiFePO cell technology supports resource‑efficient battery operation. Manufacturing and development in Germany enable short delivery routes and transparent quality processes. The modular concept allows expansion without time limitations, increasing system lifetime and reducing replacement needs.
