Description
The SAX storage unit is shipped with the German grid code and default settings configured for the ADL400 smart meter. If this configuration works for you, no changes are necessary. If you wish to use different settings, you will need the SAX USB-RS485 adapter (5209000009). This adapter is a one-time purchase and can be reused for any installation.
The SAX Power Home Plus 7.7 is an AC‑coupled battery storage system with an integrated inverter function for integration into 230‑V single‑phase grids. The direct AC supply from the storage eliminates the need for a separate battery inverter, simplifying retrofits in existing systems as well as new installations. The installed capacity is 7.68 kWh, and the system is modularly expandable up to 23 kWh. With up to 4.6 kW discharge power, the storage unit is suitable for typical household loads and can support grid‑side backup/emergency power functions. Passive cooling and an e‑paper display are designed for low‑maintenance operation.
Warranty & SafetyFor planning purposes, warranty and electrical protection concepts are clearly defined: The battery warranty is 10 years with a remaining capacity of at least 80%. The LiFePO4 cell chemistry supports a robust safety profile in home storage applications. Protection class 1 (protective grounding) and protection rating IP30 are designed for installation in protected indoor areas. For transport, UN38.3 approval is relevant, and country‑specific certifications are available for several European markets.
Warranty & Electrical Protection Features- 10 years battery warranty at ≥ 80% remaining capacity – predictable service and lifecycle costs.
- LiFePO4 cells and protective grounding (Protection Class 1) – designed for safe grid integration in indoor environments (IP30).
- Certifications incl. UN38.3 – supports logistics, project approvals, and documentation requirements.
ConnectivityThe integration into higher‑level energy management and monitoring structures is achieved via standardized fieldbus and IP communication. Supported are Modbus RTU as well as Modbus TCP/UDP, connected via RS485 and RJ45 (LAN). This enables the integration of measurement/control signals (e.g., via smart meter infrastructure) and the system‑side mapping of load and operating strategies. For commissioning and service, the clear, hard‑wired interface layout simplifies troubleshooting and parameterization in day‑to‑day project work.
Interfaces for EMS & Monitoring- Modbus RTU (RS485) – robust integration into metering/control concepts and building automation.
- Modbus TCP/UDP (RJ45/LAN) – IP‑based integration into control systems, data loggers, and local networks.
- e‑paper display on the device – quick on‑site status checks with minimal self‑consumption.
Installation ConceptThe installation concept aims for fast, standardized setup: The storage unit is designed as a compact all‑in‑one system and operates AC‑side on a 230‑V single‑phase grid. The integrated inverter eliminates the selection and wiring of a separate battery inverter, reducing material and coordination effort. With passive cooling, no ventilation management is required; this supports quiet operation and reduced maintenance needs. Dimensions and weight (620 × 620 × 250 mm, 72 kg) must be considered in the substructure and mounting.
Installation Without a Separate Battery Inverter- AC‑coupled, 230 V, single‑phase – suitable for retrofits and new installations within existing AC distribution concepts.
- Passively cooled – no fans, no filter replacement; supports low‑maintenance operation.
- Modularly expandable up to 23 kWh – capacity expansion can be added depending on project or usage requirements.
SustainabilityFor sustainability requirements, material selection and operating characteristics are relevant. The cobalt‑free LiFePO4 cell chemistry reduces critical raw material content and supports a longevity‑oriented design. The very low standby consumption (approx. 4 W) minimizes continuous losses during system operation, which is noticeable in annual performance, especially with high self‑consumption/storage shares. Modular expandability up to 23 kWh can also prevent the replacement of complete systems when load profiles or project requirements increase.
Material & Efficiency Considerations in Operation- Cobalt‑free LiFePO4 cells – reduces critical material components while using proven safety chemistry.
- Standby approx. 4 W – lower standby losses for improved annual system efficiency.
- Retrofit‑ready capacity expansion – supports lifecycle concepts without system replacement.
